DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning following
yesterdays light to moderate trade. Dressed deals in the North had a wide
range of $193 to $198, mostly $198, about $1 lower than last week's weighted
average basis Nebraska. Southern live business was at $123 to $124,
generally steady with last week's weighted averages. It looks like the bulk
of trading is essentially done for the week, but we will likely see a little
more business here and there today and tomorrow. Asking prices for cattle
left on showlists are around $125 in the South, and $200 in the North. Beef
cutouts are expected to be lower with light to moderate box movement.
